Batticaloa is a Eastern coastal town of Sri Lanka. Swami Vipulanandaji started a series of education activities in these areas. Many schools were started in these coastal area. They were later taken by the government of Sri Lanka with expansion of the education department. Still the name and fame of these schools remain.
'Ramakrishna Mission, Batticaloa, a sub-center of the Ramakrishna Mission (Ceylon
Branch) is engaged in looking after the Ashrama and the Children's Homes. There are three
Homes. The inmates of these Homes are sent to us by either the Department of Probation and
Child Care Services or recruited directly by us on the report of the Grama Sevaka Officer
and the Divisional Secretary. Usually it is the next of kin that brings such cases to our
notice.
The inmates of these Homes fall into the category of orphans, destitute and deserted. Apart from providing them with the basic amenities of life in very wholesome surroundings they are instructed in all aspects to make their lives sublime. It is our earnest endeavor to equip them to face life honestly and bravely.'
The strength of each of the Homes plus the background of the children together with the information as to how they are maintained is as follows:
